FAQ
Private Lessons FAQ
What happens to my bundle if I get injured/sick or go on vacation?
With regards to remaining private lessons on a bundle, we will always honor however many lessons/sessions you have remaining whenever you recover – we just had to put an expiration of some sort on the item to keep expectations reasonable. We know life happens and will do what’s right.
Your private lesson monthly subscription is limited to 10 athletes because of your schedule – how busy can you be?
Check out what our typical week of training looks like for this Spring! 6 hours of wrestling, over 17 hours of Jiu Jitsu, over 3 hours of additional conditioning training, 5 hours of strength training, 2 chiropractor appointments, school, 6 meals per day, etc all in one week … and making time for private lessons. We want to deliver quality private lessons and not overextend ourselves, while still having the ability to train & compete frequently!
Discounts FAQ
If I qualify for a low-income discount, do you keep any of my personal data?
Absolutely not! We do not want your personal data nor the liability. You simply show a copy of one of the items listed on the discount page, we input the discount into the system, and that’s it. In order to show us one of the items, we can setup a video call, you show us on the screen, and that’s it – we do not want any sensitive data transmitted to us in any way, shape, or form. We just need to re-verify annually. We know it can be a tight rope to walk in being able to verify who’s eligible for the discount, but so many people face a financial barrier when it comes to getting good training, that we wanted to push forward and provide opportunities where others do not.
There have been people who have automatically assumed they could not afford for their athlete child to get a private lesson with us, we responded with, “Let’s discuss,” and they were happily surprised at how affordable it can be when people care. Imagine how many people out there who naturally possess talent that will never get recognized because of financial barriers to training! We want to remove that barrier or, at the very least, make it smaller.
I do not qualify for a discount or I do, but I still am wondering how I can reduce the cost of a private lesson/bundle. Do you have any advice?
Absolutely! If you’re doing a virtual private lesson, you’re going to need your own uke (friend/training partner) anyway, so ask them if they’ll chip in for half the cost of the single private lesson or the bundle. If you choose the membership, you could even ask them to help with some of that cost if they’ll join you for your weekly private lesson. If you’re doing an in-person private lesson, you do not necessarily need to bring an uke due to both Cadence & Keegan being there, but you can and, again, ask them to share in the cost. This is a very common way for people to save money on private lessons.
Policies FAQ
Do you have a refund policy?
Yes, no refunds. We’ve scoured the internet and used AI to ensure our pricing structure is competitive, do not charge setup fees, and know what we bring to the table. Additionally, we are more willing than most others to work with people when they have concerns or issues.
Athletes We Work With FAQ
Do I need any prior experience prior to signing up for a membership or private lesson?
Absolutely not! We all started somewhere and we would love to help you hit the ground running by building up a strong foundational base. There have been a number of kids and adults who have progressed without grasping a thorough understanding of foundational principles (i.e., guard passing, body mechanics that make you strong, etc) and we have helped them get where they need to be to overcome their hurdles. You can avoid this by starting off on the right foot fundamentally. That’s what we are here for!
What is the youngest age you will consider for private lessons?
We will work with children as young as 5-years-old. We have experience coaching little kids over the years and very much so enjoy it, so please do not hesitate to sign them up!
My child is autistic or has another type of special needs. Will you work with them?
100%, yes! We have experience with autistic children, children with Downs Syndrome, etc. Cadence used to be one of her autistic student’s favorite coaches. He would be having a challenging moment and she could easily & effortlessly calm him down. It was beautiful to see! Keegan also has had the opportunity to work with special needs children, including competing in “special” matches the American Grappling Federation puts on for these children – to this day, of all his matches, those are his favorites!
